About Anabelita

Award-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer, Anabel Gil Díaz was born in 1994 in
Havana, Cuba where she graduated from the Superior Institute of Art. She has developed
professionally as a flutist, professor, and producer with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic
Orchestra under the conduction of Orbert Davis. She performs both classical and jazz. Ms. Gil
attended the Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice at Berklee School of Music on a full
Presidential Scholarship. She received a Masters in Jazz and Contemporary Music from the
Longy School of Music. Ms. Gil can be heard on Terri-Lyne Carrington’s Grammy-Award winning
album New Jazz Standards Vol. 1. Gil participates as session flautist for Harvard Composers’
Association (HCA) and for Berklee’s Scoring Session Program (SSP). Her writing has been
commissioned by MassArt Art Museum, Boston’s Landmarks Orchestra, and Brandeis
University. Ms. Gil has performed at Reno Jazz Festival, Arlington Jazz Festival, Momence Jazz
Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival and at prestigious venues throughout the United States and
Europe.
